The 2011 MS Walk season is quickly approaching! With registration just around the corner, now is a great time to think about building a team. Whether you’re returning to the MS Walk, or thinking of registering for the first time, consider starting your own team and experiencing the MS Walk in a whole new way. All you need is three other team members—they could be your family, friends, neighbours, or coworkers!
Walking with a team offers camaraderie, motivation, and a chance to connect with fellow MS supporters. For our corporate partners, it’s also an opportunity to socialize outside the office and build team spirit among coworkers. Being part of a team can also be a source of support and creativity during fundraising, and often leads to higher pledge totals.
If you think you’d like to take the TeamMS challenge this year, consider developing your leadership skills by starting your own team as Team Captain. Our TeamMS staff will work with you to help register your team, create your team goals, plan activities and fundraising events, and more.
Recruiting members can take some time, so it’s best to start asking your friends and family to join your team early. Visit http://mssociety.ca/en/events/teamms/default.htm#register to get started today!

2010 Early Bird Prize Winner: Trip Update
In January, Nancy Moran was the lucky winner of a trip for two to a destination of her choice in North America. All she had to do was register for an MS Walk before January 31st. Nancy bought an extra ticket and took her two long-time MS Walk partners –her mom and young son, Mitchell– to Florida at the end of July. We recently had the opportunity to check in with Nancy about her trip.
“We had absolutely wonderful weather all week,” Nancy says. "We visited SeaWorld the first day, then spent four days at each of the parks at Disney World. We even had a day to visit Gator Land while we were there. My mom does not do roller coasters but she even went on the Space Mountain ride! It made me so happy to see both my mom and my son so excited!”
Congratulations again to Nancy and to all 2010 MS Walkers for their hard work and continued support. Stay tuned for information on building teams and registering for the 2011 MS Walk!

Join Your Local 2011 MS Walk Planning Committee
The MS Walk is the MS Society of Canada’s largest fundraising event. Come out and be a part of your local organizing committee! It is a great way to become more involved in your community while making a difference in the lives of others.
Each local MS Walk Committee is responsible for the successful planning and execution, from start to finish, of the MS Walk – a fun community based fundraising event. The organizing committee is comprised of volunteers who work together to help recruit new participants and local sponsors and to train and lead event weekend volunteers, making for a successful MS Walk.
We are looking for volunteers with a wide variety of skills and experience. Positions on the committee include: sourcing sponsors, recruiting and stewarding walkers and teams, planning the route and more! Being a member of the MS Walk committee allows you to be an integral part of the MS Society of Canada.
