Impromptu MS Walk in Paris

CNN reports an exciting display of support for MS even in challenging and unexpected circumstances.

Missy Sternlic, an American living in Paris, became another frustrated, stranded traveler when she learned her flight back to New York would be cancelled due to the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano explosion in April.

Her disappointment grew when she realized she would miss the MS Walk in New York that raises awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis research and support in the United States. Having been diagnosed with MS three years ago, Missy felt compelled to contribute to fundraising efforts. She had an idea, and she phoned a friend.

With the support of her family and friends, twenty-four hours later she organized her own “MS Walk in Paris”. “I quickly e-mailed a bunch of my friends [who] I knew were also stranded and got an incredible response and incredible support,” Missy says. “I think people got really excited about being able to do something positive in this crazy time.” About 100 marchers joined Missy’s Walk on April 18th.
