Spring Blooms! 5 Steps to prepare for a healthy MS Walk

What an excellent time of year to be Canadian! Mother Nature pushes aside Old Man Winter and blesses us with warming rays of sunshine, as we leave our hibernation dens behind and get back to enjoying the great outdoors.

It is officially spring and we wish you all a great season of personal and professional growth! With only 28 days left until the the first MS Walk in Ontario, here are 5 quick tips to help you prepare for your Walk:

1.     Make sure that you have a good, comfortable pair of shoes.

2.     Start your Walk training slowly. Gradually build yourself up starting with 5 or 10 minutes at a time.

3.     Avoid drastic increases in time on your feet. Increase by 5 minute increments weekly until you reach 30 minutes of walking, 3 times a week.

4.     Don’t forget your water. Bring a stainless steel water bottle with you to the Walk and try to drink continuously throughout the Walk.

5.     Eat a good healthy breakfast before the Walk. A bowl of porridge with milk, a bit of maple syrup for some sweetness and slices of apples are a good choice. Sprinkled with some yummy cinnamon!

Now get outside and start walking! We thank you for being part of the movement to end MS!
