Founded in 1981 in Boston, Genzyme evolved from a tiny start-up with just a handful of employees to one of the world's leading biotech companies.  Acquired by Sanofi in 2011, Genzyme now benefits from the reach and resources of one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, with a shared commitment to improving the lives of patients.

Known for producing medicine focused on rare genetic diseases, Genzyme has also expanded to other disease areas such as thyroid cancer and now multiple sclerosis.  Driven by our commitment to patients, we strive to develop strong relationships with patient communities and listen to their perspectives so that we can understand their needs.  These collaborations guide us as we continue to develop therapies where none existed before.  Genzyme is proud to partner with the MS Society for the MS Walk which will ultimately provide support and services to help those living with MS, their families and caregivers.
